We’re excited to share some big news from the Pride Community Foundation family — we’ve welcomed four incredible new directors to our board: Helen Jones, Steve Beaumont, Jamsheed Master and Luciana Cousin.
They join our existing board members Paul Kemp (Managing Director of Brighton & Hove Pride), Jayne Babb (Director of Brighton & Hove Pride) and Leslie Clarke (CEO of PCF). Together, this team will help shape our future, strengthen our governance and set out a long-term strategy that ensures Pride Community Foundation can continue building a brighter future for LGBTQ+ people across the UK.
“Pride Community Foundation set off on this new journey earlier this year, and I couldn’t be more excited to have such a skilled, passionate and knowledgeable team of board members. Our mission is to support LGBTQ+ infrastructure through innovative grant-making, and to work with business and political leaders to put LGBTQ+ equality back on a positive path in this country. I’m sure that with this new team, we will go forward stronger in both areas.”
— Leslie Clarke, CEO of Pride Community Foundation
Helen Jones
Helen is a passionate LGBTQ+ community consultant and researcher, with a strong focus on tackling health inequalities in minoritised communities. She’s authored multiple research studies centred on queer lives and is the founder CEO of MindOut. Today, she works freelance as a researcher, supervisor and assessor, building networks across health and social care.
Jamsheed Master
Jamsheed is a composer, pianist and producer whose music spans television, opera, theatre and activism. Their songs of protest and hope are sung by LGBTQIA+ choirs across the globe. In Brighton, they are a board member at The Queery, a much-loved co-op and community hub.
Luciana Cousin
Luciana is the founder of Across Rainbows and bobu and is dedicated to building safe and supportive spaces for LGBTQ+ communities. Her projects help people and organisations build emotional, social and physical safety — especially in challenging moments — with a mission to empower people to live unapologetically.
Steve Beaumont
Steve’s career has taken him from Finance Director and Managing Director roles at Gillette to leadership in multiple industries. Since 2017, he’s been at the heart of Brighton’s LGBTQ+ charitable sector, having served as the former Chair of The Martin Fisher Foundation and supporting other local LGBTQ+ causes. His expertise in strategy, governance and finance will be invaluable to PCF.
This is a hugely exciting moment for Pride Community Foundation. With our new and existing board members working side by side, we’re ready to take the next steps on our journey — strengthening LGBTQ+ infrastructure and ensuring that equality moves forward, not back.
