Scene is looking for volunteer writers based in the UK to contribute original reporting, commentary and features across culture, politics, community life, news and opinion.
As an independent publication rooted in LGBTQ+ perspectives, we’re interested in voices that are curious, informed and engaged with the issues shaping life in the UK today — from Westminster politics and local community stories to arts, identity and social change.
What you’ll be doing
- Writing articles, opinion pieces or features aligned with Scene’s editorial focus
- Covering UK-focused stories in areas such as culture, politics, community life and current affairs
- Pitching ideas and responding to the news cycle where relevant
- Working with our editorial team to refine copy and meet publication deadlines
We’re looking for
- Strong writing skills and a clear, engaging voice
- An interest in journalism, media, politics, culture or community storytelling
- A good understanding of the UK context and public debate
- Reliability and the ability to work independently
- Previous writing experience is welcome but not essential
