Leslie Pumm

Director

I was born in Berlin to an American father, a former US military mechanic stationed in West Berlin, and a German mother.

Growing up in Berlin, I began my career in the media, studying media design and video production after an apprenticeship in my mother's erotic shop.

After graduating, I worked as a video editor and media designer for the youth TV station Joiz. During this time I also ran an LGBTQ+ marketing agency, which marked my early involvement in advocacy for the community.

I also pursued music as a musician, composer and producer.

Over the years I've worn many hats: founder, strategist, creative partner and advocate. At the heart of it all is a simple belief - that great things happen when people feel seen, heard and inspired.

From 2023 to March 2025, I had the honour of serving as a councillor and cabinet member for communities, equalities and human rights at Brighton & Hove City Council. In this role I worked with incredible colleagues and grassroots groups to deliver programmes that widened access, celebrated diversity and championed the human dignity of every resident.

In March 2025, I stepped down to focus on my health - a decision that has given me renewed energy and perspective. Now I'm pouring my passion into my work at Pride Community Foundation CIC, an LGBTQ+ nonprofit dedicated to creating lasting change in our region.

When I'm not deep in strategy sessions or rolling up my sleeves on new projects, you can usually find me hanging out in cafes, making music, spending time in parks with my partner Harry and dog Artie, or getting lost in a new book. I believe in building with heart, leading with intention and leaving things better than I found them.

If you'd like to chat about collaboration, community projects or just share your favourite local cafe recommendation, drop me a line - I'd love to connect.
